Artist painting a forest graphic on a pair of skis in a mountain cabin studio

Graphics shouldn't be picked by a committee

For decades, the art on skis and snowboards has been chosen in a conference room far from the snow. A handful of graphics make the cut each season, and the rest of the world's talent never gets a shot. Big brands only release a few artist collaborations a year, so only a very small number of artists ever see their work on a topsheet.

We think that's backwards. The people who ride, paint, sketch and design every day are the ones who keep this culture fresh. You don't need a committee's approval to make something great. You need a place to put it.

That's PowderWraps. Nowhere else is built just for ski and snowboard artists like this: a dedicated, artist-first shop made to showcase and sell wrap art, with our custom upload studio, a live preview on real ski and board shapes, and printing and shipping handled by us in Colorado. You make the art. We handle the rest. You never touch inventory.

Artist painting a wave graphic on a snowboard in an oceanside studio

From the coast to the cabin

Maybe you paint by the ocean and dream in swell lines. Maybe you're in a timber studio with peaks out the window. Maybe you live in your design software with three monitors and a stylus. It doesn't matter where you make it. If it looks incredible on a ski or a board, it belongs here.

Illustration, abstract, photo-based, hand-painted, type-driven, glitchy, minimalist: bring your style. Riders want something that feels like it came from a real person, not a trend report.

Wherever you create

What your art can become

  • Ski wraps as a matched pair, in Youth and Large sizes.
  • Snowboard wraps in Youth and Large sizes.
  • Wall art. Plenty of buyers hang their wrapped skis and boards above the couch or in the cabin. Your work lives on the mountain and at home.
  • Limited drops and collections: release a series, tell a story, and build anticipation with your audience.

Every wrap is printed and made in Colorado and shipped by us. Free shipping on orders over $100 for your buyers.

Get paid on every sale

$30 per sale, then $35

You earn a flat $30 on every $129.99 artist wrap sold. After your first 25 sales, it goes up to $35 per sale, for every sale after that. No inventory, no upfront cost, no printing headaches.

How it works

  1. Apply through the artist portal. The portal opens November 1, 2026. Sign up with your email and a link to your work.
  2. Set up your profile. Add your artist name, bio, photo and social links so riders know who made the art.
  3. Prepare your files. Build your artboards to the specs below, with bleed, safe zone and the right resolution.
  4. Upload and preview. Drop your file into our custom upload studio and see it live on the ski or board shape. The preview shows exactly what prints, rounded corners and all. The studio warns you if resolution is too low.
  5. Submit for review. We check every design for print quality and rights before it goes live.
  6. Go live. Your design gets its own product page in the Artist Designs collection.
  7. Promote it. Share your product link on Instagram, in your bio, in your newsletter. Your audience is your superpower.
  8. Get paid. Earn on every sale of your design.
  9. Keep dropping. New season, new series, new collab. Keep your page fresh and your followers coming back.

File specs for designers

Treat each wrap like a tall, skinny print job. Set your artboard to the full canvas size below. It already includes a 3 mm bleed past the cut line on every side, so run your art all the way to the edge. Keep faces, logos-of-your-own, signatures and text inside a safe zone at least 15 mm in from the edge and clear of the binding area.

Work in pixels at real-world size. 150 ppi at print size is our recommended target and looks great on snow; 300 ppi is the best you'll ever need; 100 ppi is the minimum before softness shows up close.

Ski pairs: three ways to build

  • One image per ski: a single artboard, mirrored or repeated on both skis.
  • Separate left and right: two artboards, so the pair can tell a story together.
  • One image spanning the pair: one artboard at 2× the ski width, split across both skis when they stand side by side.

Export checklist

  • Formats: PNG or high-quality JPG for upload. Keep your master as PSD, AI, PDF or TIFF.
  • Raster vs vector: vector art (AI, PDF) scales cleanly, so export it to raster at the 150–300 ppi sizes above. Raster art (PSD, TIFF) needs enough pixels from the start; upscaling can't add real detail.
  • Color: export in sRGB with the color profile embedded. If you work in CMYK, convert to sRGB before export so colors preview correctly.
  • Flatten: flatten layers, outline or rasterize type, and remove hidden layers, guides and cut lines before exporting.
  • Edges: fill the full bleed. No white borders and no crop marks.

Your art, your rights

You keep ownership and copyright of your artwork. While your design is listed, you grant PowderWraps a license to print it, sell it and show it to promote your design and the Artist Designs collection. Want a design down? You can remove it from your listings.

Only upload work you created or have full rights to. No logos, brand names, sports team marks, copyrighted characters or other people's art. We review every submission, and we'll turn down anything we can't print legally.

FAQ

When can I sign up?

The artist portal opens November 1, 2026. Email info@powderwraps.com to get on the early list.

Do I need to be a professional?

Not at all. If your art looks great on a ski or a board and meets the file specs, you're in the running.

Do I have to buy inventory or pay anything upfront?

No. Every wrap is printed to order and shipped by us in Colorado. You never handle stock.

Can I sell the same art elsewhere?

Yes. You keep your copyright, so your art is still yours to use.

What if my file is low resolution?

Our custom upload studio flags low-resolution files before you submit. Aim for 150 ppi at print size.

Can riders hang my design on the wall?

Absolutely. Lots of buyers display their wrapped skis and boards at home, so your work gets seen year-round.

Want a one-off for yourself instead? See Custom and upload your own art or photo for your own skis or board.
